There is a shift in the rhythm of the vineyard when harvest arrives. Months of tending, watching, and waiting give way to decisions that can change from one day to the next.
At After 93, the 2026 harvest is underway.
Earlier this year, we shared the work of pruning and tying — the careful preparation that shaped the growing season. Now, those same vines carry the fruit of that attention, and our focus turns to bringing it into the winery.
Across our estate vineyards, from Osoyoos in the South Okanagan to Peachland and West Kelowna, harvest unfolds at a different pace. Each site has its own conditions, its own character, and its own moment of readiness. Differences in elevation, exposure, and variety mean that picking is a sequence of decisions made over several weeks.
Choosing when to pick is among the most consequential of those decisions. Sugar levels are one part of the picture. Acidity, flavour, and the development of skins and seeds help tell the rest. The aim is to find the balance that will allow each wine to express both its fruit and the place it was grown.
For our family, this season brings a familiar sense of purpose. Years of farming in the Okanagan have taught us to pay attention to the details, to remain patient, and to be ready when the vineyard is.
As the fruit moves into the cellar, that same care continues. The work changes, but the intention remains: to preserve the character we have spent the season nurturing.
There is still much ahead before we can tell the full story of the 2026 vintage. For now, we look forward to sharing glimpses of harvest as it unfolds, from the vineyard rows to the first stages of winemaking.
